Germany

Strike disrupts airport operations: Verdi union has called for a strike of ground staff at Hamburg Airport (HAM) on February 4. The strike over demands for a pay increase began at 3:00 am local time and was expected to last throughout the day. It has caused some flight cancellations and delays.

Strike disrupts airport operations:Â Verdi union has called for a strike of ground staff at Hannover (HAJ) and Dusseldorf (DUS) airports on February 7. The strike over demands for a pay increase began at 3:00 am local time and was expected to last until 11:00 am local time. Flight delays and cancellations are likely to occur.
USA – back to normal

United States Postal Service (USPS)Â informs other Union member countries and their designated operators that operations have returned to normal following last week’s suspension of deliveries owing to extremely cold temperatures.
Canada

Severe snow and cold temperatures continue to affect Ontario and Quebec regions with flight delays and cancellations in & out of Toronto & Montreal. Icy Road conditions are affecting road services to various regions out of Toronto.
Mail deliveries were suspended on Wednesday 6 February in the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario due to the severe weather conditions. Mail services into the above regions will continue to experience delays until conditions improve.
Chile

Correos de Chile informs other Union member countries and their designated operators that a severe weather event, with rain and flooding, in Arica and Parinacota, Chile, is affecting the collection and delivery of all mail products. Delays can be expected for all mail products into and out of these areas of Chile.
India

Strike disrupts transportation services: strike of two million government employees across Uttar Pradesh State, India, has been affecting road traffic and airports operations. The action was called due to a new pension scheme and is expected to last for a week.
Australia, Japan, China

End date:Â Â Â Â Ongoing
Possible delays to mail for the Far East due to the Chinese New Year. It is not uncommon at this time for some flights to be cancelled and others rerouted to accommodate extra passenger traffic. Extended delivery periods should be expected for Australia, Japan and China.
Japan

Heavy snowfall disrupt road traffic: heavy snowfall has caused disruption across Hokkaido Island, Japan. Several roads were closed due to blizzards and low visibility.

Belarus

The designated operator of the Republic of BELARUS, RUE Belpochta, informs the designated operators of UPU member countries that, owing to changes in its national legislation, the limits of the duty-free import of goods sent in international postal items and addressed to private persons have been amended effective 1 January 2019. Goods may be imported duty-free if the total value of goods sent within a calendar month in international postal items to the address of one recipient does not exceed an amount equivalent to 200 EUR and if the total weight does not exceed 31 kg. In addition, the value of goods sent in one international postal item may not exceed an amount equivalent to 22 EUR and the weight may not exceed 10 kg.
