Discontinued Products

Products that have been discontinued by the manufacturer should not be deleted or disabled. They should remain online as a reference for customers who may own the discontinued products.

Apply the following steps to discontinued products.

1. Set Preorder/Backorder to "None"
2. Set the "Main category:" to "Manufacturer/Manufacturer Name/Discontinued Products"
3. Set "Additional categories:" to "Reloading Equipment/Discontinued Products" or "Reloading Supplies/Discontinued Products" or "Shooting Gear/Discontinued Products", etc. as appropriate for the type of product
4. Set Related Products to include the replacement product, if any, with a one-way link, not Bidirectional link
5. Change the product long description to include: "This product has been discontinued by the manufacturer. When current inventory is depleted this product will no longer be available."
6. In cases where a replacement product is available include: "This product has been superceded by: Product Name" with "Product Name being a link to the replacement product.
